Two for Tuesday
This week we are talking about animals that hibernate, and I'm throwing in a lesson about migration. We will be doing this activity at co-op this week for the kindergartners. I think it will go well with what they've been covering (animal adaptations) AND with what we've been covering at home (carnivore/omnivore/herbivore...and the food chain.)
I'm either leading or co-leading every co-op for Three or Four from now until the end of the year, so I did some other planning as well. February I'm leading the K co-op, but most of the subjects are easily adapatable to older/wider age ranges.
President's Day the age range on this pack is K-3rd. I'll be using a couple of the sheets for co-op and most of the others at home on our own.
You'll notice that both of today's links are TeachersPayTeachers links. I really can't say enough good things about this website. I LOVE it. There are a ton of great FREE things (like the links I've shared today) but there are also LOADS of great packs for just a few bucks. I've bought several things from there, and I've loved all of them. So, while you're checking out these things...look around. Search any subject you are studying. Narrow it by grade. It's amazing!

Flashback Friday: Body Systems
(As I mentioned last week, for the next several weeks my Flashback Friday posts are going to be old posts from my blog....my favorites, or things of most relevance.)
We will once again be visiting Body Systems, so I looked up my old post. Here you go:

So, it's more than two. Here's some of the stuff I'm printing out for our upcoming week. All FREE from teacherspayteachers.com If you haven't checked out this site, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it. Not everything is free, but I've used lots of free stuff and a handful of paid items from there and loved everything.

Body Systems
I'll be leading our First Grade Co-op lessons...starting mid-month, or for April (I was supposed to lead March, but following the death of my aunt I had to ask my fellow members to step in for a couple weeks,) we'll be doing a study of body systems.
I'll be starting with respiratory system, and found this:
Respiratory System: TeachersPayTeachers
Also: Nervous System, Skeletal System, Components of blood, Digestive System
And: Smart Art Body Systems this one is $3.00 but when you are using in a small group like this, it's not a big cost.

Two for Tuesday (plus a little bonus rant.)
I need some sunshine. Truly. It's so grey and dismal here. I can't take much more. The weather man says the next 3 days (today not included) will be sunny. Cold as a witches titty (My Daddy said that to me when I was a kid.) But, SUNNY. I have my chair positioned on the back porch, I should probably turn it upside down so the water can run off--it's going to rain all day, and it rained a bit yesterday too. It's not helping my depression. At. All. I ran twice last week. I danced yesterday, and I am dancing again later this week. I am motivated to run (which I will probably do tomorrow, with my new running partner The Bestie!) because of a race I signed up to run in May. That's a long way out you say? It's a warrior dash. Google that. There are 12 obstacles that unlike my FUN MUD RUN are no joke. I'm excited, but I need to be in shape. Coincidentally, my FUN MUD RUN is the weekend after, and should therefore feel like a walk in the park! Sunshine. I need sunshine. Stat. I'm considering paying $10 to lie in a tanning bed for a few minutes even. It's that bad.
We are currently "tracked out," which means we aren't doing any REAL school. We are still reading because I don't want to lose what he's gained in that department-he's doing SO WELL! But, other than that, our only learning is about Christmas traditions around the world and how they are similar to and different from ours. We only have this week, and a few days before Xmas to do this because (SHHHHHH...this is a secret) Santa is bringing us another trip and we'll be gone the entire week before Christmas.
Here's what I downloaded from TPT (one of my favorite sites, in case you didn't know that already.)
